The first step in the Personal Pull System is to catch the thoughts that bother us and put them in the basket. What we call a “basket” can be a simple notepad, or any note-taking software or sound recording system available on our mobile phone. The goal is not to miss a single thought.

What thoughts can come to our minds? It could be a broken lamp repair, a new and bright business idea, or you forgot to service your car. Collecting whatever is bothering your mind, big or small, and putting it into a basket that you can trust will immediately give you a great relief, because you have closed the infinite loops that consume your brain’s energy. This way, your brain will have the horsepower it needs to take things to the next level.

Just do it

Sometimes, when you’re just putting things in the cart, it’s a good idea to realize these are very small jobs and finish them right away. For example, what is the need to put a job in the basket that can be closed with a phone call in 2 minutes? Just do it. So, as a general rule, if a work item is under 2 minutes, do it right away.

You need to take the basketing phase seriously. In fact, I have to say that it will be very useful practice to sit down at certain dates and times and do these infinite loops that mess with your mind and deplete your brain’s energy.

After the basketing phase, you will need to park these things properly. You can think of the parking phase as categorizing things. Especially if you are using digital tools, the easiest way to categorize may be to use the hashtag. Or you can think of the parking phase as the directory structure on the computer. The biggest advantage of parking things in suitable places is that it will create an “External Brain” for you over time.

To be continued…
